This stunning East Yorkshire country hall & gardens is a great day out with the kids this summer – and there’s loads going on there you might not know about!
Sitting on a clifftop with sweeping views across Bridlington Bay, Sewerby Hall and Gardens is one of East Yorkshire’s hidden gems – and if you’re planning a family day out this summer, it’s absolutely packed with things to do.
The grounds are gorgeous all year round, but what really makes it special right now are the extra summer activities. From fun magic shows and face painting to live storytelling and outdoor theatre, there’s something different happening every week – and some of them even invite you to join in! It’s definitely worth checking what’s on before you visit.
Then there’s the zoo – always a hit with the kids – where you can see monkeys, penguins, raccoon dogs, and even llamas. You can even join in with animal experiences like alpaca walks or feeding the penguins if you time it right.
The Walled Garden is a peaceful spot for a stroll, and the woodland trail is perfect for little explorers. Inside the Georgian hall, you’ll find grand Edwardian rooms and changing exhibitions, including some with treasures on loan from the V&A.
Whether you’re heading for a day trip or planning a longer stay in one of their cosy on-site cottages, this is one of those places that genuinely has something for everyone. You can even grab lunch or an ice cream from the café while the kids let off steam in the play area.
