Summer in Hull and East Yorkshire is bringing us loads of new opportunities with those longer days. Whether the sun’s out for five minutes or five weeks (hopefully!), there’s no shortage of ways to make this summer one to remember. From beach trips to city views, amazing events and everything in between, we’ve pulled together our ultimate local summer bucket list.
Catch a sunset at Flamborough Lighthouse

There’s something unbeatable about a golden-hour view from the cliffs. Head to North Landing for a scenic walk and finish the day watching the sun set behind Flamborough Lighthouse.
Climb the Hull Minster tower

See Hull from a whole new angle by climbing the tower at Hull Minster. It’s only open on select dates, so check ahead – but if you get the chance, the views are absolutely worth the climb.
Attend Humber Street Sesh

One of the biggest events of the summer, award-winning Humber Street Sesh brings live music, street food, art and a brilliant festival atmosphere right to the Marina. It’s always a summer highlight – and a must for your bucket list.
Have a pint and a walk by the Humber Foreshore

There’s something properly relaxing about a slow walk by the water, overlooking the beautiful Humber Bridge, and a rewarding pint afterwards at The Country Park. Simple, peaceful, and one of the easiest ways to enjoy a sunny afternoon or evening.
Cycle from Hull to Hornsea on the Trans Pennine Trail

Feeling active? The traffic-free stretch from Hull to Hornsea is a peaceful, tree-lined route perfect for a sunny day. Stop for fish and chips and a whippy at the beach, then cycle back (or cheat and grab a lift home!).
Wander the Marina and enjoy dinner at a top restaurant

The Marina’s the perfect place for a summer stroll, with beautiful views of the boats and water. But it’s even better when you’re heading to one of Hull’s best restaurants. From small plates and cocktails to full-on feasts, Humber Street has got everything on offer.
Explore A Mischief of Rats trail

This unique sculpture trail is a fun way to explore Hull and the surrounding region, taking you to places you might not have visited otherwise. Each rat sculpture is full of character, with clever details and hidden meanings to spot along the way. It’s a creative, family-friendly adventure that blends art, local landmarks, and a bit of mischief in the best possible way.
Picnic in East Park and ride the splash boat

Grab some snacks, find a quiet spot, and enjoy a chilled-out day at East Park. Don’t forget to ride the historic splash boat – it’s one of those classic Hull summer traditions everyone needs to tick off at least once.
Take the kids to Dinostar and The Deep

Two Hull favourites that never disappoint, especially on a rainy day. Dinostar is full of quirky, hands-on exhibits that little ones love, while The Deep is just as impressive, even if you’ve been loads of times. The sharks, turtles and jellyfish still manage to wow every visit.
Take a boat trip on The Yorkshire Belle

Sailing from Bridlington Harbour, The Yorkshire Belle is a proper East Yorkshire classic. With cruises to Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs, it’s a brilliant way to see the coast from a new angle – and maybe even spot puffins or gannets if you time it right. There’s even a bar on board, so you can enjoy a drink while you take it all in.
Try puppy yoga, goat yoga – or cuddle alpacas at Ings Park

If you fancy something different this summer, Ings Park Alpacas near North Cave has you sorted. From puppy and goat yoga to chilled-out alpaca cuddles, it’s wholesome, relaxing, and perfect for a bit of feel-good fun.
Spend the day at Spurn Point

Big skies, sweeping views, and constantly changing wildlife make Spurn Point one of the most unique spots in East Yorkshire. It’s a perfect day out by the coast, with plenty to explore and loads of space to just enjoy the fresh sea air.
Watch the sunset from a rooftop bar

There’s no better way to end a summer’s day than with a drink in hand and the city skyline glowing around you. Hull’s rooftops – like SEBU, The Lexington, and Humber Street Gallery Café Rooftop – are ideal for catching golden hour in style.
Visit Danes Dyke

Danes Dyke is one of East Yorkshire’s most peaceful beach spots, with forest trails leading to a stunning two-tone pebble and sand beach. It’s perfect for a quiet coastal walk, and at low tide, the rock pools are full of marine life waiting to be discovered.
There’s no shortage of ways to make the most of summer in Hull and East Yorkshire. From coastlines and countryside to rooftop drinks and local festivals, there’s something for everyone – and loads of reasons to get out and enjoy it.
