The Bob Dylan Story will be an invitation on a trip down memory lane at Hull Truck Theatre on Friday 6th May. Here, The Bob Dylan Story will await with a celebration of popular music’s greatest icon. Described by audiences as “inspiring and moving”, “heartbreakingly fabulous” and “the best tribute show I’ve ever seen!”.

“Bob” and “The Band” capture classics including Like A Rolling Stone, Blowin’ In The Wind, Knocking On Heaven’s Door and Subterranean Homesick Blues to perfection in this affectionate trawl through the best of Bob’s impressive back catalogue. With a story arc that begins with JFK’s inauguration and returns full circle to his 1963 assassination, the show uses evocative visuals and fascinating anecdotes to plant 1960s-era Dylan back on stage for one evening.

Lauded by critics and fans as “superb”, “inspiring and moving” and “heartbreakingly fabulous” The Bob Dylan Story is fronted and produced by Dylan fan Bill Lennon, whose other touring credits include Keef Rickard in The Counterfeit Stones and James Taylor in You’ve Got A Friend: The Music of James Taylor & Carole King.

Bill has been performing in the UK and abroad since graduating from London’s Guitar Institute (now known as the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) as best live performer in 2005.

Learning piano and banjo as a youngster, Bill switched to the guitar as a teenager. And although initially inspired by electric guitarists like Johnny Marr and Andy Summers, he gradually became drawn towards the acoustic guitar, thanks to the likes of Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, and of course, Bob Dylan.

Dylan’s second album “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” was a soundtrack to Bill’s childhood and remains in his top three favourite albums of all time, but it was a chance hearing of Like A Rolling Stone and Positively 4th Street back-to-back on the radio as a teenager that sealed the deal. “The sound and vocal delivery just blew me away,” recalls Bill. Bill’s roles to date include touring with an internationally renowned Rolling Stones tribute as Keith Richards and performing as James Taylor in ‘You’ve Got A Friend’.

Bill Lennon, Producer & Frontier Performer on the Bob Dylan Story, said:

“It’s an evening of good old-fashioned nostalgia, we really do transport our audience back to a time when Bob reigned supreme, with all his greatest hits and the stories behind them. Just like Dylan’s famous Mr Tambourine Man, we can’t wait to play these classic songs for the good people of Hull the way they remember hearing them first time round”.
