Another amazing week of events in Hull, jam-packed full of live music. This week we have the weekly Sesh and Trinity Live, Live music at Social coming from King No -One and Socials own incredible acoustic Sunday. Do Nothing are gracing the Polar Bear’s stage on Friday and to round off the live music this week we’ve got October Drift at The New Adelphi Club and Artio Playing at everyone favourite dive bar DIVE HU5 on Sunday, all offering different flavours of live music in Hull.
It’s not all live music though. Starting on Thursday and running until the end of the month Lone Flyer: The Last Flight of Amy Johnson debuts at Hull Truck Theatre. This weekend there’s one for the kids at Hull New Theatre with The Tiger Who Came to Tea and to round the weekend off why not head on down to Comedy Lounge for Balti Towers a tribute to Fawlty Towers tickets are only £21.30 and include a two-course curry meal!
1. Hull Fair 2021
? Friday 8 October, until Saturday 16 October – excluding Sunday 10 October @ Walton Street
Europe’s oldest and largest fair returns to Hull after being cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With over 250 rides, attractions and fair games, there’s no wonder why Hull Fair is one of the city’s biggest and most popular traditions. Hull Fair is perfect for all ages, with sky-scraping rides fit for any adrenaline junkie, as well as some gentler rides for younger patrons. Some new rides will make their way to the fair this year including KMG Extreme and Snow Jet, as well as some old favourites such as Waltzers and the Sky Swing. One of the most exciting additions this year is the Star Flyer which is one of the tallest rides in the country, measuring in at 55m high – the tallest ride to ever come to Hull Fair.
2. The Sesh

We’re delighted to have the return of one of our all-time favourite bands at The Sesh. Polo have long been purveyors of electronic music within Yorkshire for some time, and having toured successfully for many years, release their debut album in 2022. We get a sneak peak into that process for Free on a Tuesday night. It doesn’t get any better than this!

3. Lone Flyer: The Last Flight of Amy Johnson

4. Trinity Live

Starting from 6 pm with the live music kicking off at 6.45, An early evening night of pure entertainment featuring some of the most gifted performers in the region, surrounded by some great independent street food traders within the market. This weeks line up: The Ether, Ubu Roi, Mike Wright
5. King No-One
? Thursday 7th October, 19:00 – 23:00 @ Social
The York band have gone from strength to strength, selling out UK tours, BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds, main stage performances – drawing thousands of fans -at Truck and Y-Not festival. Trnsmt, Tramlines, capacity shows at Dot to Dot ( O2 Ritz, Bristol Academy and Rock City). The band charted their debut EP in March 2019, reached #2 on the Indie breakers chart and # 21 on the Indie Chart, following New Music Friday and Apple playlists in 15 countries. Through pure grit, talent and drive King- No-One epitomises the modern go-getting DIY culture – conquering the hearts and minds of a huge fanbase with constant touring, massive singles and an ethos of equality. This was characterised in the single ‘Antichrist’ which declares that regardless of our colour, gender, sexuality or our financial status; we are all born equal.
6. Do Nothing

Equal parts taut post-punk and off-beat new wave, the four-piece have been compared to Parquet Courts, Interpol and Ought.
TALKMORE: Ambient 80s-inspired big hooks, silky vocals and earworm riffs, York five-piece Talk More may be fresh off the blocks, but in a short time, they have created quite the buzz. No strangers to packed audiences in Leeds, Hull and Manchester – Daisy, Alex, Morgan, Olly and Jonny have brought their heartfelt and homegrown sound to the masses, captivating thousands of listeners since July 2019.
7. The Tiger Who Came To Tea

Direct from the West End, the Olivier Award-nominated smash hit show, The Tiger Who Came to Tea returns on tour, celebrating over 10 years on stage.
The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big, stripy tiger.
Join the tea-guzzling tiger in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos. A stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem… expect to be surprised.
8. Acoustic Sunday

A staple event at the former venue FRüIT, that Social is thrilled to bring back to Humber Street every Sunday.
Expect relaxed vibes and spine-tingling acoustic music from the cream of Hull’s music talent, alongside some choice tunes on vinyl from our DJs.
12 pm-6 pm, it’s unticketed and FREE to enter. Entry first-come, first-served, no reservations.
9. Artio

10. October Drift

Formed from the fruits of a solid foundation built over years of touring and writing, October Drift have cemented their place as an important new presence, with their heavy, pop-inflected rock delivering a rejuvenating injection of fresh blood to the genre. One of the most electrifying, charismatic and formidable live acts of the past two years – with appearances at festivals including Glastonbury’s John Peel stage, Reading & Leeds and The Great Escape, as well as a major European tour with Editors in 2018 and a slot at Liverpool’s Sound City.
