TV comics Bill Bailey and Rhod Gilbert bringing UK tours to Hull

Two of the UK’s biggest comedians will be visiting Connexin Live, Hull as part of their new UK tours. Bill Bailey and Rhod Gilbert will bring their new shows to the city in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

Bill Bailey will bring his new UK tour ‘Thoughtifier’ to Connexin Live on 28 February 2024.

RHOD GILBERT & THE GIANT GRAPEFRUIT will take place at Connexin Live on 11 April 2025.

Tickets for both shows go on sale on Friday at 10am here.

Bill Bailey is delighted to get back on the road with the announcement of an arena tour for February 2024. With his trademark musical stylings and characteristic wit, Bill returns to the live stage in…Thoughtifier:

noun

1. an intriguing device that can amplify the thoughts of a curious mind using music, channelled through a human instrument, known as Bill Bailey

2. (colloquial) a person resembling Bill Bailey

A show spokesperson said: “At a point in our evolution when it seems as if we’re sleepwalking into a world where humans might be redundant, and much of what we do can be done better and more efficiently by machines, what better time to celebrate our own flawed humanity. And who better a guide to lead us than Bill… To take us on a jaunt through the error-strewn, distracted, crumb-festooned, sometimes magnificent history of human thought and how it might help us survive in this brave new world. A magical, musical mystery tour of the human mind, along with some other pressing matters about whales, biophilia, unrequited love and other thoughts. Amplified With Music.”

Having declined previous requests due to ongoing touring commitments, the pause in live shows due to the pandemic provided Bill the opportunity to partake in the 2020 series of BBC One’s hit

primetime Saturday night entertainment show, Strictly Come Dancing. Joining a cast of names from the world of music, sport and entertainment, Bill donned his dancing shoes and sparkles and against all the odds, was crowned Strictly Champion, lifting the coveted Strictly Glitterball alongside professional partner Oti Mabuse.

Multi-award-winning comedian Rhod Gilbert is back with a tour that starts early in 2024 and runs right through towards the end of the following year.

Rhod previously visited Connexin Live in 2019 to a sold show audience, not long before his cancer diagnosis.

On that tour, ‘The Book of John’, little did Rhod know that things were about to turn even more sour. But rather not bitter he’s bouncing back and feeling remarkably zesty, hilarious, dark, passionate and way too personal. This is classic Rhod Gilbert, squeezing every last drop out of life’s latest curveballs, with a little help from an old adversary.

As one of the UK’s leading stand-up comedy talents, Rhod Gilbert has enjoyed many successful years as a star of television and radio. He currently hosts Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains for Comedy Central,  hosted three series of The Apprentice You’re Fired and is the former host of Never Mind The Buzzcocks. He’s also regularly hosted Have I Got News For You and appeared countless times on QI.

Seated tickets for both shows go on general sale at 10am on Friday, 29 September and will be available here.
