If you’re a fan of jacket potatoes, then get ready for Spuddies, the brand-new lunchtime option at Village Pub & Grill in the Village Hotel Hull. This isn’t just any baked potato—it’s a fully customisable spud bar, letting you build your perfect meal with a huge range of fillings, dressings, and toppings.
Available Monday to Friday from 12 pm to 3 pm, Spuddies starts with a fluffy, oven-baked potato, topped with butter and cheese as standard. From there, it’s all about the customisation. For £8, you can choose your main filling, a dressing, and an extra topping, while for £10, you can upgrade to a meal deal. It’s available for dine-in and takeaway, with delivery options coming soon.
We tried a Spuddie topped with chicken curry, bacon bits, ranch dressing, and cheese, and it was absolutely spot on. The crispy potato skin, soft and fluffy inside, and bold flavours made it a seriously satisfying meal. If you’re looking for something quick, filling, and full of flavour, Spuddies is an excellent new lunch option in Hull.
While Spuddies is a must-try, Village Pub & Grill offers a huge menu with everything from pub classics to lighter options. We also tucked into the gourmet Wagyu burger with bacon and brie, which was rich, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The flatbread pizzas were another hit—we had the Mexican chilli beef and pepperoni, both thin, crispy, and packed with toppings.
For something to share, the BBQ tower stack was a standout, arriving afternoon tea-style with crispy chicken tenders, wings, and loaded fries. And if you’re after something a little healthier, the ‘Get Shredded’ bowl with fajita-style shredded chicken and fresh greens was a great option without sacrificing flavour.
If you’re into football or boxing, Village Pub & Grill is a top spot to watch live matches. They’ve got huge screens with theatre-style seating, meaning you won’t miss a second of the action. There’s also a great drinks selection, including Guinness Zero, AU Vodka, and Kopparberg on draft—so whether you’re stopping by for food or catching a game, you’re sorted.
