An on-trend salon has quickly become the go-to place for beauty in Beverley after opening at theĀ FlemingateĀ centre.

Vintage & Co is one of the largest salons in Hull and the East Riding and brings barber shop services, hairdressing and beauty treatments together under one roof in seriously stylish surroundings.

The Insta-worthy salon comes complete with a coffee bar and a green ā€œselfie wallā€, with bright pink angel wings for customers to capture their cut or colour on camera.

The talented Vintage & Co team at Flemingate has almost 150 years of combined experience in the hair and beauty industry, with several having worked nationally and internationally, winning awards and honing their craft at award-winning salons.

The salon is already fully booked until the end of May with further pre-booked and walk-in appointments being taken as the team continues to grow.

Vintage & Co is the second hair and beauty salon opened by hairdresser and barber Lee Carmichael following a successful opening in Hullā€™s St Stephenā€™s Shopping Centre last year.

Lee, who is supported by business partners Tom Pearson and Jack Hardcastle and whose domestic partner, Amelia Humphrey, is the Salon Manager, said: ā€œWeā€™ve had a brilliant response since we opened and so many people have walked in to find out more and book appointments. I couldnā€™t be happier.

ā€œOur Beverley salon is double the size of our St Stephenā€™s base and it was all hands on deck to open as lockdown restrictions eased.

ā€œFlemingate has a brilliant vibe and the footfall is excellent. Itā€™s great to see people sitting outside coffee bars and enjoying some normality, and for us to be part of that.ā€

Vintage & Coā€™s interior is styled with bespoke street art-inspired dĆ©cor created by local artist Tom Brown.

Domestic partners Lee Carmichael and Salon Manager Amelia Humphrey have worked together to launch Vintage & Co at Beverleyā€™s Flemingate centre.

Lee said: ā€œTom is a fantastic artist and we worked together on the creative brief to give the salon a totally unique design.

ā€œCustomers are loving the style of the salon. It brings a really inspirational and creative focus to the salon scene.

ā€œThere is a huge demand for what we offer. We have everything under one roof for men and women, all offered in comfortable surroundings with a chilled-out vibe and reasonable prices.ā€

Barber shop services at Vintage & Co include wet shaves, beard trims, buzzcuts and haircuts, while hairdressing services include blow drys, cuts, highlights, colours, colour correction, and hair appointments for children.

Beauty services include nail treatments and extensions, luxury facials, eyelash and eyebrow treatments and waxing.

Creative Stylist Laura Truscott tries out the selfie wall at Vintage & Co where customers can capture their cut or colour on camera.

ReShapeU Aesthetics Clinic is also based at Vintage & Co, specialising in a variety of skin and body treatments including weight loss, anti-aging and dermal filler injectable treatments.

Lee, a qualified hair industry trainer and assessor, is also keen to form a partnership with East Riding College, which has its Beverley campus at Flemingate, to inspire rising hair and beauty stars of the future through work experience and training.

David Donkin, Property Director at Hull-basedĀ Wykeland Group, owner and developer of Flemingate, said: ā€œThe response to Vintage & Co has been fantastic and itā€™s quickly become very popular.

ā€œThe fit-out is really striking and has created a very special environment unlike anything else locally. Itā€™s another great addition to Flemingate and brings something new and very different to the centre as customers return following the lockdown.ā€

The 5,000 sq ft open-plan space at Vintage & Co can accommodate seven barbers, seven hairdressers, four nail technicians and three beauty rooms.

More than 20 jobs are being created by Vintage & Coā€™s opening and, while several employed and self-employed positions have been filled, some vacancies are still available for hair, barber and beauty roles.

Anyone who would like to find out more and apply for available positions at Vintage & Co is asked to email chapelstreetbarbershop@gmail.com with their contact details, CV and examples of their work.

Appointments at Vintage & Co can be made via Facebook @vintage-co-beverley, Instagram via @vintageandco_beverley, or by contacting the stylist or beautician directly, allowing 48 hours for messages to be responded to.

Barber shop appointments can be made here.
