We recently revisited Ponto Lounge, a delightful café bar in the heart of Hull, right across from City Hall. Back in April, our first visit had left us impressed, and this time was no different. The place still carries that classic deco cruise liner charm and boasts a Humber Bridge-inspired bar design, creating a uniquely inviting atmosphere.
Our favourite thing about it is that almost the entire menu is available gluten-free, and there’s an impressive range of vegan dishes too, so everyone can enjoy the delicious food.
During our visit, we got to sample a variety of their dishes. The Gluten-Free (GF) Chimichurri Brisket Burger was a standout, delivering a hearty and flavorful experience. The Bombay Fried Chicken Burger was another hit, offering a taste that was both exotic and comforting. For those who enjoy a bit of spice, the Goan Lamb Curry and the Lamb Shawarma were perfect, with each dish complementing the other beautifully.
We also tried some smaller plates, including the Fried Chicken Wings and the GF Bang Bang Fried Cauliflower. The cauliflower, in particular, was a revelation with its perfect blend of crunch and flavour – it’s a dish that keeps you coming back for more.
No meal at Ponto Lounge would be complete without indulging in their desserts, and we were not disappointed. We treated ourselves to three gluten-free options: a creamy White Chocolate & Vanilla Cheesecake, a decadent Chocolate Salted Caramel Sundae, and a warm, comforting Chocolate Brownie. Each dessert was as visually appealing as it was delicious.
Being a café bar, Ponto Lounge has a vibrant cocktail menu. We were particularly taken with the Pumpkin Spice Martini, a delightful nod to the season. The Daiquiri was refreshing and well-made, while the Alcohol-Free Coconut & Pineapple Punch was a fantastic non-alcoholic option that didn’t skimp on flavour.
After our latest visit, we’re just as enthusiastic about Ponto Lounge as we were after our first. The new menu lives up to the high standard they’ve set, offering a variety of flavours and options for all dietary needs.
