The White Hart partners with Hull Pie to create tasty new opening

Nestled in the heart of Hull’s bustling city centre, The White Hart pub has always been a beacon for those seeking a cosy pint in a venue brimming with history. However, a new partnership with The Hull Pie has transformed this beloved pub into a must-visit destination for foodies and pie enthusiasts alike.

Our recent visit to sample this exciting collaboration left us nothing short of impressed, proving once again that Hull’s culinary scene is alive, well, and deliciously innovative.

Upon entering The White Hart, the warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately invites you to stay awhile. The partnership with The Hull Pie has introduced a menu that tantalises with a range of hearty, homemade pies, alongside an array of sides and unique dishes that cater to a wide array of tastes.

From traditional steak pie to inventive vegan options like creamy garlic mushroom, the menu celebrates the best of British comfort food while embracing modern dietary needs.

Our choice for the day, the steak pie with mash and mushy peas topped with gravy, was a testament to The Hull Pie’s mastery in pie-making. The steak was tender, the pastry golden and flaky, and when combined with the creamy mash and homely mushy peas, it created a symphony of flavours that was both comforting and utterly satisfying. The option for double gravy is a nod to those who, like us, believe that when it comes to gravy, more is always better.

But the culinary adventure didn’t stop at pies. The introduction of loaded fries and pizzas adds a delightful twist to the menu. The poutine, a hearty portion of fries adorned with cheese curds and gravy, was a revelation. For those seeking a bit of spice, the salt and pepper loaded fries offer a sweet and spicy kick that’s addictively good. With portions generous and the flavours bold, these dishes are perfect for sharing or indulging solo.

The pizza menu, with options ranging from the classic Margherita to a moreish Pepperoni, complements the pie offerings beautifully. Each pizza, crafted on a 12″ sourdough base, promises a delightful crunch with every bite. Our foray into the poutine and loaded fries was a reminder of the diverse culinary talents that The Hull Pie and The White Hart now bring to the table.

For families, the kids’ portions available for just £4.95 ensure that this dining experience is accessible to all. And for those looking for a Sunday treat, the hog roast butty special is something we’re already marking our calendars for.

Dessert was not an afterthought, with American-style whoopie pies offering a sweet end to a satisfying meal. The Biscoff Crunch Whoopie and the Chocolate Brownie Whoopie were standout choices, each a perfect blend of texture and taste that left us planning our next visit just to try the other flavours.

The new partnership between The Hull Pie and The White Hart is, without doubt, a match made in culinary heaven. With main dishes priced between £9 – £15, it’s an affordable option for those looking to enjoy great food and drinks in a relaxed setting. Whether you’re gearing up for a gig, a show, or simply in search of a delicious meal, this collaboration promises an experience that’s both satisfying and uniquely Hull.
