It’s another sunny Summer week in Hull, and there’s plenty to do! The Vista Festival returns for 2023 at Princes Avenue, The Who is here to perform at Craven Park, and Bastille is visiting Bridlington Spa – all this and more is happening this week, so read on!


The Who at Craven Park

Legendary rock band The Who will be back on the road for their UK 2023 tour ‘The Who Hits Back!’ with a live orchestra. Joining them will be UB40 featuring Ali Campbell.

The band are set to perform music from throughout their nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums Tommy & Quadrophenia as well as other beloved Who songs.

Sounds Familiar Music Quiz at Kicks

Billy Mitchell & Bob Fox at East Riding Theatre

Bus Stop 70s Disco Night at Beverley Racecourse

Vista Festival 2023 at Princes Avenue

On Saturday 8th July 2023 Hull’s biggest free street festival returns to Prince’s Avenue.

Thousands will be entertained by the urban mash-up of this year’s headliners Bunkerpop, a free fun fair, art sales, street entertainment, dancing, art installations and not forgetting food from 25 different food establishments along the length of the street.

Andy’s Man Club Music Festival at the Ferriby Sluice

Andy’s Man Club hold a charity event in South Ferriby each year!

Last year’s music event was such a success they have decided to do another in 2023. The 2022 event was in Aid of Inspire Children’s MH unit in Hull, and they had 9 amazing musical acts, a fantastic compere and managed to raise £2,391. They would like to improve and get even better for 2023!

87 Gallery presents The Immensity of Being, a new immersive installation by Hull-based artist Lydia Shearsmith.

This will be Shearsmith’s first institutional solo exhibition after graduating from Falmouth University in 2020. Displayed over two floors, visitors will be invited to experience the piece which combines moving image, sound and suspended elements that respond to the movement of air and light in the space.

Bastille at Bridlington Spa

2023 marks the 10th Anniversary of Bastille’s chart-conquering, twice No.1 debut album, Bad Blood!

In celebration of its release, the band announced a series of very special one-off shows this summer, giving fans the opportunity to hear the album played live in its entirety alongside other fan favourites.

Hailed as a trailblazing album, Bad Blood featured the international hit, Pompeii and became the biggest-selling digital album of 2013.

Spamalot at Hull Truck Theatre

Gordie MacKeeman & The Rhythm Boys at Pocklington Arts Centre

Boys!

Led by fiddling wiz Gordie “Crazy Legs” MacKeeman, the roots quartet features all-star pickers and singers, with everything from down-home country to reckless rockabilly to intricate bluegrass.
Crowds all over the world stared in awe as Gordie plays with joyful abandonment.

They have made new fans at festivals such as Denmark’s Tonder Festival and the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival, Merlefest in North Carolina and the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Australia.

The Dyr Sister // Nujumi at The New Adelphi Club

The Dyr Sister returns to the Adelphi for a double headline show presenting fellow contemporary folk artist Daniel Merrill, who is performing with his solo project Nujumi.

This will be Daniel’s third return to The Adelphi Club, having performed here before with his band Dead Rat Orchestra in projects such as Tyburnia, and Free Folk in Brexit Britain.
