After overcoming the challenge of a devastating fire and a three-month hiatus, Fish & Chips @ Bethune Avenue has triumphantly reopened its doors to the West Hull community. This beloved local chippy is once again dishing out what many consider to be some of the best fish and chips in the area. Our recent visit confirmed the rave reviews; we were treated to generous portions of perfectly cooked fish and patties, each encased in a delightfully light and crispy batter that packed full of flavour.
Not stopping at traditional fare, Fish & Chips @ Bethune also impressed us with their hot and spicy prawns, accompanied by a sweet chilli dip, and their fish bites – a perfect choice either as a side or a kid-friendly option. What truly sets this chippy apart, however, is their unexpected range of sweet treats. The Cookie Dough dessert, a tempting trio of white chocolate, milk chocolate, and double chocolate cookies served alongside strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla gelato, was a particular highlight. The chocolate pudding with custard also left us eager for more.
Although we couldn’t sample everything on our visit, the halloumi fries, mozzarella sticks, and an array of pies including steak, chicken & mushroom, and beef & onion are high on our list for next time. For those in West Hull and Hessle looking for top-notch fish and chips plus a delightful dessert, Fish & Chips @ Bethune Avenue is a must-visit, now more welcoming than ever.
