We think Hull & East Yorkshire has some amazing community groups, run by local volunteers who want to make a difference in our region.
In the latest of our “Community Champions” series, we went along to the Pearson Park Police Station to chat with some of the volunteers who work in Community Safety at Humberside Police, who are also shared with Humberside Fire and Rescue!
The Community Safety Volunteers are lending their time and skills to assist in a variety of tasks that are crucial for maintaining the safety and wellbeing of the community.
The role of the volunteers is diverse, encompassing everything from administrative duties and event planning to delivering training and presentations in local schools. This broad spectrum of responsibilities allows police officers to concentrate more on frontline duties, enhancing the overall safety of our community.
After we had a chat with the volunteers, it was clear that they’re passionate about their contribution. Many express a sense of fulfilment and excitement derived from their volunteer work, emphasizing the impact they have on the community.
