Hull Trains offer FREE local travel to Humber Street Sesh

Hull Trains is continuing its longstanding sponsorship of Hull’s biggest music festival, which this year aims to be greener than ever.

This year, the local operator will be helping the festival achieve its green targets by offering free local travel to attendees travelling between Doncaster and Hull, (with stops at Selby, Howden and Brough).

Using their wristbands or ticket, festival attendees travelling between Doncaster and Hull can enjoy free rail travel to the event with Hull Trains only on Saturday 12th August and the morning southbound services on Sunday 13th of August. See full details of included services here: https://www.hulltrains.co.uk/hss-tandcs

All festival goers need to do is speak to a member of the on-board team and show them their Humber Street Sesh wristband or ticket, in exchange for a free travel voucher*.

Humber Street Sesh attracts thousands of music lovers to the city and in 2023 will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary. This will be the fourth time that Hull Trains has been a proud sponsor.

Festival goers can expect to see the iconic Hull Trains heart when they head to the Dead Bod stage, which is just a short walk from Hull Paragon Station.

The stage, which symbolises Hull’s fishing heritage, hosts an eclectic mix of the region’s best bands and showcases local talent from Hull and the Humber.

Like Hull Trains, Humber Street Sesh is a member of the Oh Yes! Net Zero campaign, an organisation that is committed to driving down carbon emissions in the local area. All members make a pledge to reduce carbon emissions.

Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Hull Trains, said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring Humber Street Sesh again this year for its 10-year anniversary. It is a great event to shine a light on local talent and showcase what our region has to offer.

“The free travel offer is a gesture to festival-goers and a way of supporting the event in achieving its vision to be greener and reduce emissions. Rail travel is one of the greenest forms of transport and anyone attending from Doncaster, for example, could save 90% on CO2 emissions compared to travelling to the festival by car.”

Elise Witty, Head of Communications and Sponsorship Liaison at Sesh Events, commented: “We’re grateful for the continued support from Hull Trains for the much-loved, iconic Dead Bod stage, enabling a platform for community favourites and emerging bands. We’re also delighted with Hull Trains’ fantastic free travel offer encouraging sustainable travel to the festival.

“Oh Yes! Net Zero membership has enabled us to work together with organisations who are committed to reducing carbon emissions and these partnerships have helped us achieve the most environmentally sustainable festival to date.

“Supported by JR Rix & Sons, and the University of Hull, founding members of the Oh Yes! Net Zero Campaign, we have transitioned from using diesel to hydrotreated vegetable oil to power the festival, reducing our carbon emissions by a staggering 90%. We continue to use bamboo wristbands, supported by the University of Hull; a solar-powered Youth Stage, supported by Wilberforce College; and recyclable materials across bars and food concessions.”

Melissa Rackham, community engagement manager for Oh Yes! Net Zero, said: “We’re delighted to have Hull Trains and Sesh Events as members of Oh Yes! Net Zero. Both are well-loved Hull brands and it’s great news that they are working together to reduce the carbon footprint of Humber Street Sesh.

“Every action local organisations take to reduce their carbon emissions is an important step in helping our region move to net zero and it’s inspiring to see Hull Trains and Sesh Events collaborate to achieve their sustainability goals.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased via www.humberstreetsesh.co.uk, or for further information on Hull Trains please visit: www.hulltrains.co.uk.
*The voucher is only valid for passengers boarding at Doncaster, Selby, Howden or Brough on the listed services and for travel in standard class. The voucher is not valid on Northern, TransPennine or LNER services. View full terms and conditions here: https://www.hulltrains.co.uk/hss-tandcs
