In an effort to enhance the experience for residents, businesses, and visitors, significant improvements are on the horizon for East Park, one of Hull’s popular green spaces. The proposed changes are set to revamp parking and accessibility within the park.
Under these plans, the main gates of East Park will soon be accessible to motorists, operating within the park’s usual hours. This move is expected to increase parking capacity and introduce a one-way traffic system along the park’s front, complemented by the addition of new footpaths and revised access routes for vehicles from James Reckitt Avenue to the model boat pond.
In line with the forthcoming developments, new safety measures will also be rolled out to align with Martyn’s Law, which aims to enhance security at public venues.
To keep the community informed and engaged, a series of events will be held at Woodford Leisure Centre on Holderness Road. These events will run from Monday, December 4th, to Sunday, December 10th. Notably, two drop-in sessions are scheduled for Monday, December 4th, between 2 pm and 7 pm, as well as Sunday, December 10th, from 10 am to 4 pm. These sessions provide an opportunity for the public to seek clarification and offer feedback.
Councillor Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, remarked, “East Park is a cherished destination, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. In response to community feedback, these preliminary proposals have been carefully crafted to improve visitor access and connectivity.”
The events aim to inform attendees about the upcoming changes slated for early 2024 and their anticipated benefits. The council is committed to ensuring safety and enjoyment for all park-goers.
Work is slated to commence in early 2024.
