Improvement works on Costello Playing Field set to begin shortly

Improvement works on Costello Playing Field are set to begin shortly and the people of Hull are invited to look at the plans and provide feedback.

Hull City Council has provided significant investment to the Anlaby Park Road North site which will create a state-of-the-art year-round sports provision.

Works will include the creation of a new 3G Multi-Use Games Area and associated changing facilities, whilst new white line markings and improved drainage will be installed to the existing grassed rugby pitch.

This will provide a high-quality facility for community user groups during peak times, such as evenings and weekends, whilst Hull College will have use as part of its outdoor provision on weekdays during term-time only.

Improvements will benefit the general public, students, sports clubs and park runners on what is currently a site prone to flooding.

The public were first consulted about this scheme in April 2023 and, following feedback, the plans have been revised residents can now view the updated layout.

This can be done at Peter Pan Café on Costello Playing Field on:

·    Tuesday 12 March 3-5pm

·    Wednesday 13 March 6-8pm

·    Saturday 16 March 9-11am

Cllr Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Hull City Council, said: “The Costello Playing Field project is a considerable investment from the council.

“We have already listened to public feedback about what they’d like to see in the plans and it’s great that the council is in a position to be able to further share these ahead of works beginning shortly.

“To have another state-of-the-art sports facility for the people of Hull, including residents, sports club members and in particular its students and young people, is fantastic and I look forward to seeing it once completed.”

Works are scheduled to begin this spring and completed later this year.
