The Very Best of Tommy Cooper at Hull Truck Theatre

Recapturing one of the UK’s most loved comedians Tommy Cooper and his trademark mayhem fused with misfiring magic.

The show includes many of Cooper’s beloved one-liners, dazzling wordplay, and celebrated tricks, including Glass/Bottle, Dappy Duck, Spot the Dog and Jar/Spoon.

The Production has the blessing of the Tommy Cooper Estate.

Hull Street Food Nights at Zebedee’s Yard

A wide range of food and drink taking inspiration from all over the world, in an open-air setting in Zebedee’s Yard and Princes Dock Street.

Beginning back in 2017, the market celebrates street food and drink from all cultures and backgrounds. The event is a showcase of delicious delicacies with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. As well as tasty food, there is also top-notch entertainment from live musicians, DJs and street theatre performers, as well as FREE glitter face painting.

Nick Cope’s Family Show at Hull Truck Theatre

Out Loud Scratch Night at the Middle Child Rehearsal Space

Middle Child and Silent Uproar present a showcase for new writers to see early drafts of their plays performed for the first time, in front of a friendly audience – this time featuring a double bill of two new plays.

These short performances feature professional actors, but no set, props or costume. They are presented at the Middle Child rehearsal space in Hull’s Old Town.

Big Beverley Comedy Night at East Riding Theatre

Big Beverley Comedy Night is a new bi-monthly stand-up comedy night that brings award-winning comedians to East Riding Theatre!

This time they’re welcoming Richard Morton as the headline act.
Described as “possibly Newcastle’s finest export since the famous brown ale” and certainly more consistent than its football team, Richard Morton has nailed the twin talents of musicianship and comedy into one perfectly suited package. Geordie comedian Richard Morton is a stalwart of the UK comedy circuit with a career spanning over 20 years.

Ricky Balshaw opens the show, with Rich Long coming in as MC for the night.

Safer at Hull Truck Theatre

For Butterfly Boy – sitting alone in a Fiat 500 in the pouring rain – the reasons for joining a gay and inclusive rugby union team in a rugby league-obsessed city didn’t seem that apparent. But once in the changing room, a whole new world opens up.

Inspired by true stories, Safer is a hard-hitting, tender and funny exploration of the toxic side of team sports and how one new team decided to tackle it head-on.

Hull Pride at Hull City Centre

🌈 Head to Hull City Centre for Pride and the 2023 Pride In Hull Parade! 🎉🏳️‍🌈

📍 Assembling at Wellington Street near Humber Street by the Marina. Registration starts at 9am at the junction of Wellington Street/Humber Dock Street.

🕚 Positions at 10:30am – We Step Off at 11:00am!

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ Parade only 4 people wide due to restricted access along the route.

🛣️ The route: Beginning at 11am from Wellington Street, they first turn left and go up Humber Street, then right onto Humber Dock Street. From there, they move towards the new footbridge, transitioning from the road to the slipway up to the Murdoch Connection. Following stewards’ instructions, they “pulse” across the bridge, 100 at a time. Once on the other side, they use the access slope to move down onto Princes Dock Street. Next, they head towards Whitefriargate, turn left towards the crossing over Carr Lane, and once safely across, make their way towards Paragon Street on the other side of Queen Victoria Square. Along Paragon Street on the road towards the Cenotaph, where there’s an opportunity, as in previous years, to lay a wreath for fallen LGBTQIA+ folk (Police Cadets will be there to help). They pass peacefully behind the Cenotaph and head onto Jameson Street, turning right towards King Edward Square, where the parade finishes.

🎊 After the parade, you’re invited to explore the event space which includes:

Children’s Festival of Words 2023 at various venues across Beverley

Medieval Mayhem at Hull Museums Quarter

Head to the Museums Quarter for a weekend of medieval merriment and mayhem for all the family, as it’s transformed into a medieval encampment.

Come face-to-face with knights in armour, a unit of archers, medieval residents, craftspeople and musicians.

Join in with life in the past and find out whether you’d have made a brilliant knight, a first-class archer, or a master potter.

Good Time Rhythm and Blues at Hull Truck Theatre

With nearly 7000 performances across 27 countries under their belt in their 35 years on the road, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest jump, jive and swing band – they’re an institution!

In that time, they have opened shows for BB King, Cab Calloway, and Ray Charles and toured with the Blues Brothers Band, the one from the movie and they’ve played on 36 radio shows and made 73 television appearances.

Rough, tough and always rocking, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys, have appeared at festivals, in concert and at clubs throughout the UK and Europe as well as in the USA – and Russia.

Joe Pasquale at Bridlington Spa
