A popular family pub in East Hull is closing for a few weeks for a huge makeover — and it’s coming back with a fresh new look, two new spaces, and plenty of familiar favourites.

The Apollo pub on Holderness Road, Hull has closed its doors today (Monday 20th October) and reopen on Wednesday 12th November after a £345,000 renovation.
When it reopens, the Marston’s-owned pub will be split into two distinct areas — a vibrant locals’ bar and a welcoming family lounge — giving regulars and families their own dedicated space while keeping the same friendly atmosphere the pub’s known for.
The new Family Lounge is being designed with all ages in mind, with a menu full of comforting pub classics like The Ultimate Southern Fried Chicken Burger, plus a kids’ menu that includes smaller portions for over-fives and a fun build-your-own meal option for younger ones.

Over in the bar area, which is dog-friendly, guests can look forward to a newly refurbished space with TNT sports screens, a pool table, a darts board, and more — creating a lively spot to catch the match, have a pint, or grab a bite to eat.
Popular offers are staying too, including curry and a drink for £11.75 on Wednesdays and steak and a drink for £13 on Thursdays.
Once it reopens, The Apollo will also be bringing back regular entertainment, from its Test Your Knowledge quiz night and Music Bingo to live bands and more events for the community to enjoy.

General Manager Sophie Ford said she’s excited to see the new look take shape: “We’re thrilled to share the news about the transformation of The Apollo, creating a welcoming space for our community to enjoy for any occasion. From grabbing a quick drink at the bar to catching up with friends, or savouring a family meal together, there’s truly something for everyone.”
You’ll find The Apollo on Holderness Road close to Diadem Roundabout, when it reopens on 12th November. For more details and updates, visit apollohull.co.uk.
