A free Victorian Christmas weekend is set to transform Hull’s Museums Quarter at the end of November, bringing a proper festive step back in time to the heart of the Old Town!
Across Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, from 11am to 4pm, visitors can explore Streetlife Museum, Wilberforce House, and the Hull & East Riding Museum as they’re brought to life with traditional decorations, costumed characters, music, crafts and entertainment. The whole event is completely free to enter, and there’s plenty happening both indoors and out across the historic cobbled streets and gardens.
You’ll bump into iconic Victorian and Dickensian figures, with live music, carol singers and storytelling sessions throughout the day. Drop-in craft stations will let you make your own Christmas decorations, crackers, crowns and top hats, and there’ll be photo opportunities around every corner.
Most activities are free, but there are optional paid extras too — including a traditional carousel £3 per person (under-3s go free).
The whole weekend has been designed to be welcoming and accessible, with wheelchair access across all sites, BSL-interpreted performances, and relaxed sessions for families who prefer a calmer atmosphere.
Whether you’re after a peaceful wander before the lunchtime rush or a lively festive day out, this is one of the city’s most magical winter weekends — and it’s perfect for families, history lovers, and anyone ready to embrace the Christmas spirit.
